How Do I Measure Success? (Purpose–People–Profit)

For most of us, success has been defined in narrow terms: titles, revenues, profits, or market share. While these are important, they don’t capture the whole picture of what it means to lead consciously.

At SKC World, we look at success through a wider lens: Purpose–People–Profit. This triad forms a holistic measure that goes beyond numbers and touches the essence of leadership.

  1. Purpose: Why Do We Exist?
Every organization begins with a reason — a problem to solve, a dream to build, or a contribution to society. Purpose is not a lofty statement on a wall; it is the living intent behind every action. When decisions align with purpose, success becomes meaningful. Without it, even profit feels hollow.
  2. People: Who Do We Impact?
No leader succeeds alone. Teams, customers, partners, and communities all form the human ecosystem of an enterprise. If people feel disengaged, disrespected, or unseen, growth becomes fragile. Conscious leaders measure success by the trust, creativity, and joy of the people they touch. Because when people thrive, businesses flourish.
  3. Profit: How Do We Sustain?
Profit is not the enemy of purpose — it is its enabler. Without profit, even the noblest purpose and happiest teams cannot survive. But conscious profit is different: it is not extracted at the cost of people or principles. It is generated through alignment, innovation, and value creation that sustains growth.

So, how do I measure success?

  • Does this decision serve our Purpose?
  • Does it strengthen our People?
  • Does it ensure sustainable Profit?

When all three answers are “yes,” we know we are succeeding — not just in business metrics, but in building something that lasts.

💡 True success is not a trade-off between purpose, people, and profit. It is the harmony of all three.
